Violinist

Johnston Lai from Kirkland, Washington played violin for 10 years. He currently appointed to be a concertmaster at Lake Washington High School Chamber Orchestra and was a concertmaster at Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra. He won 1st prize on 2021 Bonn International Music Competition, Honorable Award on both 2021 American Music Talent Competition and 2021 NY Strings Competition, 2nd prize on 2020 London and Paris Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition, 3rd prize on 2020 American Protégé Concerto Competition. He started music training with percussionist Dr. Ja Hsieh at age 5 before the school music teacher Dr. Gamidova introduced him to violin at age 6. Twice a month, Johnston brings the joy of music to Lakeview of Kirkland for assisted living community. Besides violin, Johnston explored his music interest to learn other instruments like piano, flute, cello, guitar, Ukulele, and vocal. For the past 5 years, Johnston played violin at AiMusic, CPYO, BYSO, SYSO, and received Merit on ABRSM Grade 8 exam. When Johnston is not playing music, he loves to dance and play all type of sports and was an All-Star golf player for two years.
