Pianists

Eric Shih Koh and Katie Shih Koh began their studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) in 2015. Their current and former instructors at SFCM include Amy Chiu (piano), Natasha Makhijani (violin), Heidi Hau (piano), and Yi-Fang Wu (chamber music). Over the years, they have performed at Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, the Musikverein in Vienna, Rudolfinum (Dvorak Hall) in Prague, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, and Philharmonie de Paris.

As pianists, Eric and Katie have won awards for their solo, duet, and duo performances. Events include the YPSO Concerto Competition, Junior Bach Festival, Bellagrande International Music Competition, International Grande Music Competition, Rising Stars Grand Prix International Music Competition Berlin, WPTA Finland International Piano Competition, ENKOR International Music Competition, United States Open Music Competition, United States International Music Competition, US New Star Two Pianists (Duet & Duo) Competition, American Protégé International Concerto Competition, American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, American Fine Arts Festival Competition, Bay Area Creative Foundation Creative Youth Celebration, Golden Key Music Festival Competition, Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition, and competitions hosted by the Private Music Teachers Association of Iowa.

As violinists, Eric and Katie are both members of the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra (YPSO). In addition, Eric plays the piano and celeste for YPSO. He was also selected to participate in the New England Conservatory Summer Orchestra Institute and Korean-American Music Supporters' Association Youth Symphony Orchestra, while Katie was chosen for the California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA) Junior High All-State Concert Orchestra.

Their early studies began at The Preucil School of Music in Iowa City with Lauree Christman (piano) and Diane Dahl-McCoy (violin).
