Oboe

Kyle Cho is a tenth-grade student at Juilliard Pre-College and Winston Churchill High School. He started oboe when he was 9 years old and learned from Juila Allal. He is a student of Professor Elaine Douvas. He is a member of the Pre-College Symphony at Juilliard Pre-College, and a member of the Wind Symphony at Winston Churchill High School. Kyle also played as an oboist in the MCYO Symphony Orchestra (co-principal), Intermediate Wind Symphony (principal) at 2021 Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, and World Youth Wind Symphony (principal) at 2022 Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. As a soloist on the oboe, Kyle has been awarded top prizes in many competitions, such as YMIC International Competition (1st – oboe), the AAMS (2nd - oboe), Young Artist Award (3rd - oboe), and the YMIC Metropolitan Music Festival (2nd - oboe). He performed at Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall) in the 2021 YMIC Global Competition Winners’ Concert. Kyle also has been studying the piano in Dr. Jeongseon Choi piano studio for 8 years. He has been awarded from several competitions including MSMTA Gottlieb Piano Competition (1st – piano), MSMTA Piano Solo Festival (1st - piano), and YMIC Metropolitan Music Festival (1st - piano). Kyle played Mozart piano concerto No. 20 with Londontowne Symphony Orchestra in March, 2022. When he’s not making music, Kyle enjoys refining his Taekwondo skills, in which he became a master (4th dan black belt).
